Stator Temperature Analysis of Turbogenerator in Rotor Inter-Turn Short Circuit

Abstract

The impact of rotor interturn short circuit (RISC) on the stator core loss and temperature is studied in this work. Different from existing research, this work is based on the variation analysis of the magnetic flux density (MFD) and the stator core loss calculation. Finite element analysis (FEA) is carried out on a MJF-6-30 prototype generator which has the same per-unit values as actual turbo-generator for practical reference purpose. It shows that RISC will increase stator core loss due to the exciting intensification of the automotive control system, which will increase the stator core temperature.
