Experimental and numerical investigation of the active double wishbone suspension system
Abstract
The paper presents research results of wheeled vehicle double wishbone suspension strut with electrohydraulic actuator. Frequency characteristics and performance indexes of the suspension system were determined. The results were compared with the passive commercial suspension system of the same vehicle. The transmissibility function, tire deflection function, clearance function were taken into consideration in order to compare suspension systems. The laboratory research was performed on the test stand with the electrohydraulic exciter in order to simulate road irregularities. The tests were performed by using different classes of excitation. Road surface profile classification according to norm “ISO 8608 Mechanical vibration - Road surface profiles - Reporting of measured data” was considered. The influence of the actuator dynamics on the suspension system performance was investigated.
