Demonstration of Highly Dynamic Satellite Optical Networks Supporting Rapid Reconfiguration
Abstract
This paper designs a multi-layer satellite optical network architecture, which considers the feature of space-time multi-dimensions and complex space environment. Based on this architecture, we propose a dynamic reconfiguration strategy and develop a demonstration testbed. In the testbed, a ONOS-based SDN controller has been employed to control the multi-layer satellite optical networks with more than 200 virtual satellite nodes. On the testbed, we experimentally demonstrate how rapid the dynamic satellite networks can be reconfigured by showing the reconfiguration delay in satellite optical networks.
