Switched Inductor Multi-cascaded High Transfer Ratio Boost AC-DC Converter
Abstract
In order to get a scalable cascaded connected high- power boost AC-DC converter, and address the existent shortcomings, such as low scalable capability and surging voltage during switching state transition, a novel switched inductor multi- cascaded high transfer ratio single phase boost AC-DC power converter is presented. It is based on the boost principle of inductors parallel charging and series discharging and it integrates many step-up sub-circuits. And a new delayed conduction control strategy is proposed to achieve the same inductor peak currents with unequal inductances. The operating principle is analyzed and modeled in both continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), then simulated by means of MATLAB/Simulink and implemented by using one cycle control (OCC) physically, in case of equal inductances or not. The obtained results prove the proposed AC- DC converter in terms of the capability of boost, cascade and electric power factor correction, and it is cost-effective and it is easy to implement with the existing analog controllers and digital program.
