A Review of Trends in Sustainable Manufacturing

Abstract

This research aims to study as well as to understand the trends in the field of sustainable manufacturing during the period of time between 2009-2018AD – in order to demonstrate which groups and/or countries are interested in sustainable manufacturing, the nature of the topic being studied, as well as the effect of sustainable manufacturing on businesses. The main purpose of this paper is to study the history and background of the idea, and the definition of sustainable manufacturing, and also the trends which gained interest during the past ten years. Many business companies start to put more interest in how to manage the natural resources and how to deal with environmental issues. This, combined with the fact that consumers’ interest began to shift towards caring about what they consumed and their health care, has encouraged many businesses to try to find the way to be involved in these initiatives. This includes innovations that can help them to take advantage on this opportunity.
