Determining The Optimal Parameters of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine with an Inner Cylinder
Abstract
This paper presents the results of a study of a Darrieus type vertical axis wind turbine with an inner cylinder inside the runner. The optimal values of the diameter ratio, the pitch angle of the blades and their number are set through a planned physical experiment (3 factors at 3 levels). The turbine performance is shown in two separate cases where two different types of runners are used (with a rotating and a stationary internal cylinder). The results of the research and the possibilities for improving the efficiency of the turbine are analyzed.
