Bandwidth Extension with Bond Wire Inductance for Regulated Common Gate TIA
Abstract
In this paper, the bandwidth extension of a regulated common gate transimpedance amplifier (RCG-TIA) designed for the optical front-end receiver is presented for the 30 Gb/s communication standard. The RCG-TIA is designed based on the elliptic filter approximation approach. Its bandwidth is extended by 3 GHz thanks to bond wire inductance, and the circuit is implemented in $0.13\\mu \\text{m}$ CMOS technology. The simulation results return a 50 dB$\\Omega$ of DC transimpedance gain, 18 GHz of bandwidth, 15 pA/$\\sqrt {Hz}$ for input-referred noise current performance. The designed RCG-TIA consumes 5.34 mW under 1.2 V supply voltage.
