Fixed-Time MPPT Controller Design For Wind Turbine System with Prescribed Performance

Abstract

In a wind energy conversion system, one of the most important issues is to maximize the captured power from the wind turbine which is known as maximum power point tracking (MPPT) strategy. Design of precise and fast controller can be very effective in optimal power extraction in a wind turbine. Conventional controllers can ensure that the tracking error converges to zero in infinite time, but finite-time and fixed-time controllers guarantee the convergence of the tracking error in finite-time. Also, conventional controllers satisfy only to the steady-state properties of the system, while prescribed performance controllers not only satisfy the steady-state conditions, but also improve the transient properties of the closed-loop system. Therefore, this paper proposes a fixed-time prescribed performance controller to cope with the maximum power extraction problem from wind energy in a wind turbine. A transformation of the tracking error is used to keep the error within a prescribed range. To verify the theoretical results, the proposed controller is simulated on a 600 KW wind turbine system in matlab software environment.
