Design and Performance Analysis of Three Phase Solar PV Grid Integrated DSTATCOM

Abstract

Power conservation and optimal utilization of available power are very challenging in the modern world. Keeping this in mind, the proposed work intends to improve power quality by the application of solar PV Distributed Static Synchronous Compensator (SPV-DSTATCOM) integrated into grid. It is more suitable custom power device for the enhancement of power quality issues. Irrespective of temperature and irradiation conditions, the maximum power output is extracted from PV array using P&O MPPT controller. The DC-link of the SPV- DSTATCOM is integrated with solar PV using a DC-DC boost converter. In this work the generation of reference current is estimated using Direct testing and calculation (DTC) method and Hysteresis current control (HCC) is used for the switching of gate signals in DSTATCOM. The proposed system is used to overcome power quality challenges like reactive power, harmonics and unbalancing conditions. The analysis of the system is performed in the Matlab/Simulink platform.
