A High Gain Si-shaped Circularly Polarized Patch Antenna for 5G Application

 
 
 
 
 
 

Abstract


In this paper, a high gain Chinese character-shaped circularly polarized (CP) artistic antenna for 5G application is proposed and investigated. The Chinese character “司” with a pronunciation of “si” is developed on the top of a substrate to serve as a radiation patch, and a slightly larger metal ground plane that has a distance to the substrate is used to improve antenna gain. By modifying the position, height and parameters of the Si-shaped patch, the proposed Si-shaped Chinese character antenna can achieve excellent circular polarization characteristics. From the simulation and optimization in the HFSS 2019, the results show that the Si-shaped antenna exhibits an axial ratio bandwidth of 2.44~2.69GHz and impedance bandwidth of 2.44~2.82GHz, which can cover the n41 band of 5G communication ranging from 2.515 GHz to 2.675 GHz.
