A Robust Grid Synchronization Method for Cascaded Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator
Abstract
This paper proposes a robust grid synchronization method for cascaded brushless doubly fed induction generator (CBDFIG) based on sliding mode control (SMC). The state space equations of CBDFIG model in grid flux oriented synchronous reference frame are deduced and a robust control-winding (CW) current regulator based on SMC is presented to achieve smooth grid synchronization. Furthermore, a so-called virtual grid flux method is introduced to obtain the CW current reference value. The proposed grid synchronization method shows robust performance to uncertainties caused by parameter variations and external disturbance and achieves constant switching frequency with space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM). Simulation results are provided to validate the theoretical analysis and to illustrate the grid synchronization performance with the proposed control scheme.
