Design of Triple Band Slot Antenna for RF Energy Harvesting

Abstract

In this paper, a tri-band patch antenna is designed for radiofrequency energy harvesting. To design the antenna, a simple pendulum shape structure is considered. The proposed antenna covers the band 1.2 GHz, 2GHz, and 2.5GHz. The bands considered for the harvesting are associated with many communication services including GSM (Global system for mobile communication), WLAN (wireless LAN), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical). The proposed antenna achieves 5.53 dB gain at 2.5GHz with a quite good return loss of −27.25 dB. The partial ground structure is used to achieve the desired performance of bands. The outcome shows that the antenna is compatible to harvest the RF power from the required bands.
