LTE-M System Design and Performance Test of FAO Urban Rails

Abstract

Fully Automatic Operation (FAO) technology and application have developed rapidly in urban rails now; it puts forward higher requirements to train-ground wireless communication than other CBTC (Communication Based Train Control) systems. The wireless communication throughput demands of different services are proposed at first in this paper. Then Long-Term Evolution for Metro (LTE-M) redundancy network architecture are designed to meet the demands. LTE-M system testing platform is established to verify the performance in simulating real environment of FAO urban rails. At last LTE-M integrated services system performance are measured. Testing results shows that LTE-M networks we designed can meet the reliability and performance demands of train operation related services, and provide considerable quantity data rates to production and maintain services.
