Fault Tolerant Algorithm for MMC-Based Shore Power Supply System

 
 
 
 
 
 

Abstract


This paper presents a falult tolerant algorithm and a novel start-up Scheme for MMC-based shore power supply system(SPSS) that consists of rectifier and inverter. In the whole start-up stage, all the additional circuit are not to be required. Through the coordination between Rectifier and Inverter that are operated in nearest level control modulation, SPSS is started with small impulse current. The proposed scheme ensure the normal opration of the equipment when one cell (at most two cells) fault condition occurs in the operation. To verify the feasibility of the scheme, a 10MVA/10kV MMC-based back-to-back model is established in MATLAB that uses S-function, and in which two cells fault condition is emulated. Simulation results verify its effectiveness.
