Reconfigured Topology for Fault-Tolerant Full Bridge Series Resonant Converter in Induction Furnace Applications

Abstract

This work deals with the Reconfigured Topology for Fault Tolerant Full Bridge Series Resonant Converter (FT-FBSRC) for an application in Induction Furnace. The power electronic switching devices play a substantial slice in the process of high-power transfer applications. Where the system design and the standards of maintenance are kept very high and firmly tailed. SRCs are quite popular for applications that need high power transfer such as: pulsed power supplies and particle accelerators etc., FT-FBSRC network topology is very widespread in solid-state transformer applications too, where fault tolerance is a highly desired feature, and which is realized through redundancy. The proposed topology with reconfiguration goals at less redundancy without reducing the desired power output. In the current work, it is anticipated to explore FBSRC used in high power transfer in Induction Furnace applications. It is also proposed to improve the fault tolerance of the converter by reconfiguration of the network during open circuit fault which prevents from halting of the operation. The complete work is implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
