Noise Immune High Performance Domino Circuit Techniques for High Fan-In Logic Gate: A Review

Abstract

Dynamic logic is a very popular technique for high performance systems. These systems use domino circuits for their high speed and low power dissipation property. The undying demands of miniaturization result in aggressive scaling, which increases the leakage currents in circuits. It has been observed that, in high fan-in domino gates the leakage currents makes the circuit less immune to noise. There is always a trade-off between power dissipation and noise immunity. So it is very much challenging to design a wide fan-in gate with higher noise margin and less power consumption while maintaining the necessary speed of the operation. Here, this research work presents a general review of the most advanced circuit level techniques reported in last two decades. This work also classified different techniques for leakage reduction based on their area of applications. In this work, the performance of high fan-in domino logic circuits have been reviewed by considering parameters such as unity noise gain (UNG), power consumption and delay. This comprehensive review will be useful for choosing the efficient leakage reduction technique for specific applications.
