Comparative Study on the Reliability of Weather Radar Intensity Data
Abstract
The accuracy and reliability of the weather radarbased data plays a crucial role in short-term weather forecasting. The error of the echo intensity data about 10dB will cause the precipitation prediction to differ by an order of magnitude. In this paper, we will test the radar intensity data from time, space and radar performance parameters to find out the error of the data. Then, we compare the two adjacent base stations’ observation data of the same echo and analyze the origin of the differences. Finally, we explore the solution to make the data of the two base stations consistent. This research is of great significance for improving the accuracy of short-term forecasting and weather radar data quality control.
