Supercontinuum generation by dual-pulse-pumping in photonic crystal fibers

Abstract

We propose and numerically investigate a scheme of supercontinuum generation from photonic crystal fibers using dual-pulse-pumping at 1064nm. The pumping source is united by a femtosecond pulse and a picosecond pulse with the same peak power 3000W. Our simulation results indicate this pump way can make good use of fiber as long as the offset time is small enough. In the normal dispersion region, other nonlinear effects have broadened the spectra before four-wave mixing. Just shorter than 1m fiber will be required to extend spectrum from signal wavelength to idler wavelength in the case that no offset time existed.
