PV Fed Active Clamped ZVS High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter for Grid-Tied Photovoltaic Applications

Abstract

Owing to the large power demand, the grid-tied PV systems have turn into a necessary sustainable energy source to minimize the effects of greenhouse gases and environmental impacts. To feed the low output PV modules to the grid a high gain and efficient dc-dc converters are required. A high-gain converter based on the integration of the active clamp circuit with a coupled inductor (CI) is introduced in this paper. This high gain is achieved by utilizing the switched capacitors on the secondary side of CI. The clamp circuit alleviates leakage energy problems which minimize the voltage spikes across the switching devices. Further, the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) state is also achieved for the main as well as auxiliary switch. Finally, a 500W, 100kHz proposed converter is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink with PV input at different irradiation levels.
