Energy Cluster Management Strategy of a Stand-alone LVDC system For Supplying Unbalanced AC Loads

Abstract

This paper presents a low voltage DC stand-alone distributed system (LVDC) which is fed by Distributed Generation (DG) based on photovoltaic (PV) renewable sources for supplying unbalanced AC loads. In the proposed system, when the battery is fully charged, the excess power is dissipated. To solve this problem, a power sharing management strategy, also named energy cluster management strategy, acting on the load consumption for stand- alone photovoltaic system was developed. It includes many PV subsystems that are connected to a shared storage system and each one of these subsystems consists of PV panels, a DC/DC converter and an unbalanced load. The advantages of this system are found to be the high efficiency, minimum use of the storage system and low cost compared with conventional individual PV systems. For these reasons and to simplify the study, we adopt three basic operation conditions, which are the functions of the relative powers of the PV panel output, the corresponding loads for each subsystem and the SOC of the battery storage system.
