Research to Evaluate the Regenerative Braking System Effect on Fuel Consumption of Hybrid Vehicle
Abstract
The Regenerative Braking system is designed to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy reusing on the vehicle. In this study, the author will go deep into establishing a mathematics model and building a regenerative braking system simulating model on a Hybrid vehicle in order to evaluate its effects on vehicle fuel consumption. The simulation is built based on a Toyota Prius model parameters by MatLAB Simulink with various driving conditions. The simulating result and calculation proved that the regenerative braking system can contribute from 14.4% up to 61.6% in reducing fuel consumption of the vehicle depending on each standard driving cycle.
