Analysis of Polarimetric Scattering from Dihedral Structure for Detecting Building Damaged by Mudflow

Abstract

In this paper, we carry out polarimetric scattering analysis for simple dihedral structure, to realize accurate detection of manmade object damaged by flood-related mudflow, using quad polarimetric SAR data. The Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method is utilized for the analysis. The dihedral model is composed of thin perfectly electric conductor (PEC) plates. Dielectric slab with gentle slope, which simulates wet soil in mudflow, is set on one of the PEC plates. The dependency of the polarimetric scattering on change of condition of the covered dielectric is investigated in detail.
