SOSF Implemented Single Stage Solar PV Fed Grid Integrated Water Pumping System Driven Through PMS Motor

Abstract

The impetus behind proposing this method to give a robust and cost-effective system with improved power quality for solar water pumping as harmonics are an unavoidable concern of power and efficiency, attracting more and more attention with the rapid growth of electronic power technologies. The topology deployed for single stage water pumping system endowed Solar PV array involves a solar PV array, 3-phase VSI (Voltage Source Inverter), PMS (Permanent Magnet Synchronous) Motor, VSC (Voltage Source Converter), Utility grid and a centrifugal pump. The water pumping system supplied through solar PV does not demand very fast dynamic response, hence single stage topology is more beneficial. The motive is to makes the system tractable and cost effective. The electrical power supplies by the solar PV is enhanced and optimised by adopting PO (Perturb & Observe) MPP tracking. Integrating to grid makes incessant water pumping with varying solar irradiance too. The VSC control is done by UVT (Unit Vectors Templates) mechanism, where SOSF (Second Order Sequence Filter) is used for the grid voltage filtering purpose, as VSC used for the process of rectification and inversion. The PMS motor is controlled through VCT (Vector Control Theory) for controlling the speed. The demonstrated systems outcomes are modelled and visualized under consistent and changing irradiation levels using MATLAB/Simulink.
