Abstract

This paper presents a power allocation strategy (PAS) based on Kalman filter algorithm for the hybrid electric vehicle. Considering that the operating performance of fuel cell (FC) will vary with changes in external conditions, the Kalman filter (KF) is used to find the variation in performance of FC. According to the KF, the maximum efficiency point (MEP) and maximum power point (MPP) can also be estimated in real-time. Moreover, in order to guarantee that the battery can operate within the limits, different operating modes of FC are defined. On the test platform, the effectiveness of presented multi-mode PAS (MM-PAS) has been successfully demonstrated with the simulation results.
