High-efficiency Millimeter-wave Wide-Angle Scanning Phased Array Using Metasurface

 
 
 
 
 

Abstract


In this manuscript, a new type of high-efficiency compact metasurface linear antenna array using low-loss seri-al-parallel feed is proposed. It operates at 24GHz ± 0.5GHz and the in-band efficiency is greater than 82%. Based on it, the linear array is compactly arranged with a small distance of $0.4\\lambda_{0}$ to realize wide-angle phased array. In order to avoid the influence of coupling between adjacent linear arrays on the scanning performance, the width of the metasurface is very narrow and several metal walls are loaded, thus isolation between adjacent linear arrays is higher than 20dB. The results show that the proposed phased array can achieve a scanning range of −60~60°, and the in-band efficiency is larger than 77%, which would be potentially applied in future wireless energy transmission systems.
