Smart Container Design for Transporting Virus Sample in Remote Areas
Abstract
Handling COVID-19 pandemic requires comprehensive approach, one of which is the process of sending viral samples of COVID-19 suspects. Indonesia is an archipelagic country with many remote areas that lack standard laboratory facilities for COVID-19 confirmation, so sample transportation is necessary. The transportation method currently used is by using a cool box with ice packs to maintain stable temperature of 2-8°C. However, this method cannot ensure temperature stability in the cool box if there is delay in transportation. Therefore, a solution is proposed by making smart container for transporting viral samples called KONTRAVIR. KONTRAVIR is equipped with an electronic cooler which able to set desired stable temperature and maintained it within required interval. This smart container is equipped with a 24-hour temperature monitor with three indicators indicating safe, alert, and risky temperature conditions. In risky condition, a warning is given in the form of an alarm sound that provide sufficient time to return the temperature to safe condition. KONTRAVIR is also equipped with Global Satellite Positioning tracking to track its position in delivery. The experiment shows that KONTRAVIR can achieve target temperature of 2°C within 75 minutes and maintain it within required range.
