Uncertainty Analysis in Dispersive and Lossy Media for Ground-Penetrating Radar Modeling

 
 
 
 

Abstract


The uncertainty analysis (UA) in simulation results is essential when the acceptability of the results is considered. This letter introduces an improved intrusive generalized polynomial chaos expansion (gPCE) method for UA in ground-penetrating radar modeling. The uncertainty in simulation results induced by the uncertain parameters of two-dimensional dispersive and lossy media is quantified with the auxiliary differential equation finite-difference time-domain method combined with gPCE. The results from the new method are compared against the Monte Carlo method. The new method shows its considerable advantage in the computational expense and speed.
