Abstract

A high-gain Fabry–Perot cavity antenna (FPCA) with wide 1\xa0dB gain bandwidth in the S-band is proposed. A partially reflective surface with a positive phase gradient in a wideband is adopted to effectively improve the radiation characteristics of the designed broadband source antenna. The proposed FPCA has a measured –10\xa0dB impedance bandwidth of 2.9–3.95\xa0GHz (30.65%), and a 1\xa0dB gain bandwidth is 2.9–3.6\xa0GHz (21%). In such a wideband, the realized gain is enhanced by up to 6\xa0dB, and the measured maximum aperture efficiency is 39.3%.
