Hopf bifurcation based dynamic available transfer capability calculation in renewable integrated deregulated power system

 
 
 
 

Abstract


In order to plan the power transaction very securely, accurate calculation of Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is needed. Independent System Operator (ISO) will calculate the ATC and post the information in Open Access Same Time Information System at least one day before the transaction. The renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are currently gain high attention because of their free availability and eco-friendly in nature. Hence, large renewable energy sources are integrated into the existing deregulated power system and even this may further increase in the future. In this work, the effect of renewable energy sources on Dynamic ATC (DATC) is analyzed. Grid tied solar PV and Doubly fed variable speed induction generator is used in this work as renewable sources. DATC is calculated for 24Hours time horizon. The dynamic voltage stability limit namely Hopf bifurcation limit is used as a limiting criterion. The eigen value analysis-based step by step approach is used to find 24Hr s DATC. The DATC is calculated including renewable energy sources and its effect is analyzed. Also, the effect of scattering of renewable energy sources on DATC is analyzed. The proposed approach tested and validated on New England ten machine 39 bus system.
