Type-2 Fuzzy Sets as Well as Computing with Words

Abstract

Lotfi Zadeh, the father of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, introduced many of their important concepts, two of which are discussed in this article namely, type-2 fuzzy sets and computing with words. Much has happened since he introduced them, and it is the purpose of this article to bring the readers up-to-speed on both topics. It is also hoped that this article will whet the reader s appetite to read further on one or both of these topics.
