BRIDGES PROJECT: DXP and UXP gliders Bring together Research and Industry for the Development of Glider Environment Services

Abstract

Growing industrialization of ocean has already started in the filed of fresh water production, renewable extraction of oil and gas (O&G) and raw materials. The deep ocean, the largest domain on Earth for life, remains the least explored environment and up to now, essentially quite unexploited. The BRIDGES project is developing, creating and will demonstrate at- sea two new deep-sea glider vehicles with improved sensing capabilities, enabling new and exciting opportunities for deep-sea monitoring and inspection at much lower costs than traditional missions. A focus is made on those new tools: the DeepExplorer (2400m depth) and UltraDeepExplorer (5000m depth)
