Using Time Reversal for Direction of Arrival Estimation in Multipath Environment

 
 
 
 

Abstract


In sea surface environment, multipath echo has a strong impact on low altitude targets direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in radar. Under complex scenario, it is difficult to distinguish the direct path signal from specular path signal in the spatial or temporal. Time reversal (TR), as a new unique technology proposed concentrates the whole signal energy on the targets position by retransmitting the TR signals, which reduces the effect of multipath distortion, further improves the accuracy of DOA estimation. In this paper, we put forward a novel DOA estimation method based on TR technique. Compared with existing DOA estimation methods, its superiority in DOA estimation accuracy is validated by numerical simulations.
