Feedback Linearization Control for MMC Considering Capacitor Voltage Harmonics

Abstract

As a typical nonlinear system, the modular multilevel converter (MMC) contains highly coupled states. The conventional feedback-error-based control scheme is designed on the basis of classical linear system control theory, which may be inadequate regarding the dynamic performance. Feedback linearization control (FBLC) has been studied to improve the control effect. However, the existed MMC nonlinear model for FBLC neglects the impacts of the capacitor voltage harmonics in MMC submodules. This paper derives the FBLC law by considering the capacitor voltage harmonics in MMC nonlinear model. The detailed calculation process for constructing the control law is presented. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and necessity of the proposed model.
