Statistical satellite-derived irradiance estimation: A case study in Singapore
Abstract
Conversion of geostationary satellite imagery to clear-sky index is an important stage of gridded solar resource estimation and solar forecasting. In this research, we demonstrate an approach of combining multiple imaging bands of the Advanced Himawari Imager on-board the Himawari-8 meteoro-logical satellite to produce an estimation of the clear-sky index in a generalized approach for any availability of geostationary satellite bands. This is demonstrated using a network of 25 ground stations in Singapore.
