Design of a 7-bit Flash AD Converter for M-Sequence UWB Sensor Systems
Abstract
The development of analog and digital ASIC circuits also includes AD converters. This paper introduces the design of the high-speed 7-bit flash AD converter for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) sensor systems. The AD converter is designed in $0.35 \\mu \\mathrm{m}$ SiGe BiCMOS technology by AMS, which represents a relatively large technology compare to the smallest semiconductor fabrication processes. The proposed AD converter has been designed for 7-bit resolution at $1.6 \\mathrm{V}_{pp}$ maximum input range. The maximum analog input bandwidth is 480 MHz and the maximum sampling frequency reaches the limit of 1.4 Gsps. The power consumption of the designed AD converter achieves 1280 mW at -3.3 V power supply. For performance evaluation of the manufactured AD converter, the measurement of the basic parameters was performed.
