Optimal Design of Asynchronous Motors used for Driving Coal Mills

Abstract

The research carried out aims at reducing the manufacturing and exploitation costs for asynchronous motors used for driving coal mills. The active and reactive electrical energy consumption of these motors is high (exploitation cost), so its decrease is discussed. That is why, an optimal design of asynchronous motor is carried out, with imposed restrictive conditions taken into account (limited starting current, in order to avoid thermal effects, caused by a long period of starting). The simulation results justify the optimum constructive solution we proposed.
