Azimuth Ambiguity Erasing in Spaceborne Bistatic SAR Images

Abstract

The first-order azimuth ambiguities in spaceborne bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are especially strong due to small antenna length onboard micro-satellites. A method for “erasing” azimuth ambiguities is proposed which makes use of the difference between azimuth ambiguous signal and main signal caused by undersampling. The method is proven by simulation to be suitable to clear up first-order azimuth ambiguities in spaceborne bistatic SAR images.
