Ultra Wideband positioning technology in tracking moving objects in indoor spaces – a pilot study
Abstract
The article presents a pilot study in which we have undertaken the task of evaluating the performance of Ultra Wideband system in tracking objects moving in indoor spaces. First trials were conducted for different path shapes. For the moving object, average positioning errors of 13.5 cm were noted with the maximum error not exceeding 35 cm. Such positioning error values are sufficient, e.g. to navigate a blind person in unfamiliar indoor spaces.
