Compose, OML, and Activate: A New Software Suite for Modeling and Simulation

Abstract

Modeling and simulation is a fundamental part of control and design. This paper describes a new suite of software that has a combination of features that makes it unique. It is professionally designed and developed and is a mixture of open source and freely distributed software. It uses a language syntax similar to the most commonly used ones today. It includes also a graphical modeling package. The software is designed to model continuous-time, discrete-time, and hybrid systems. The distribution also includes a Modelica part that allows easy incorporation of Modelica blocks within the general diagrams. A control toolbox is also included. There are a number of other features that are described in this paper.
