2x-Oversampled Receiver Design for CP-FBMA Based Air Interface

Abstract

s-This paper investigates improved receiver design for uplink wireless communication system based on cyclic prefix appended filter bank multiple access (CP-FBMA) air interface. The main contribution is to unveil that current receiver of CP-FBMA system, which is based on critically sampling of the received signal after analysis filtering, is rather suboptimal in the sense that a notable amount of useful information is lost in the process of downsampling. To regain the lost information, we propose to leverage oversampled signal for data detection at the expense of higher receiver complexity. Mutual information and computational complexity analysis suggests that 2x oversampling of the signal is a good tradeoff between receiver performance and its complexity. Simulations of bit error rate performance are provided to verify the superiority of the proposed 2x oversampled receiver over existing critically sampled design and some other multi-carrier modulation schemes.
