Abstract

This paper provides an overview of ONSET the Online NASA Software Estimating Tools suite of web-based costs analysis tools. ONSET is comprised of the Analogy Software Cost Tool (ASCoT) [1], and the CubeSat Or Microsat Probabilistic and Analogies Cost Tool (COMPACT) [2]. The Online NASA Space Estimation Tool (ONSET) has been developed to provide a standardized platform for hosting web-based NASA cost estimation tools on NASA ONCE (One NASA Cost Engineering). It evolved from the BETA version of ASCoT (The NASA Analogy Software Cost Tool) which was released in 2017 and was presented at the 2017 IEEE Aerospace Conference. This first release of ONSET contains a new version of ASCoT as well as the first official release of COMPACT (CubeSat Or Microsat Probabilistic + Analogies Cost Tool). In this paper we will provide an overview of ONSET, all its features and a high-level summary of both ASCoT and COMPACT. The heart of both tools are algorithms for analogy-based estimation based on system level inputs.
