Hybrid Adaptive Balancing Capacitive Compensator for Three-Phase Four Wires Networks Harmonically Polluted

Abstract

In ac distribution networks. the current limitation or mitigation of the transfer of disturbances produced by both sides of the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) between the electricity distribution system operator and the consumer s use facilities necessitates, more and more frequently, the installation of equipment such as Custom Power Devices (CPD). For a multitude of applications aimed at power quality improvement at the PCC, especially in the case of high power and less severe requirements regarding the speed response or accuracy, the use of Static Var Compensators (SVCs) remains an efficient solution. The article proposes a hybrid compressor version composed by an Adaptive Balancing Capacitive Compensator (ABCC) and a Passive Filter (PF), as an advantageous solution for distribution networks containing unbalanced and distorting loads. A numerical application, developed on the ABCC mathematical model and validated by Matlab-Simulink modeling, confirms the correctness of the solution.
