Dual-Mode Operation of PV Power Converters for Flexible Power Tracking
Abstract
For PV inverters to meet the power quality requirements during cloudy conditions is a concern. Flexible power point tracking operated in the dual-mode algorithms is proposed to improve the dynamic of PV power converters. The power ramp-rate (PRRC) and the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controls are the key strategies to suppress the power fluctuation in the PV generation system without energy storage installation. The ramp-up and ramp-down duration time of PV power must be controlled under the limit to provide smoothing power. The dc-dc boost converter is controlled to maximize the power and reduce the effect of the sudden change of the power ramp-rate. The real-time simulation using hardware-in-the-loop is performed with the actual irradiance profile to validate the control algorithms under the varying climate conditions.
