A Transmitarray Antenna Employing Double Square Ring Slot Unit Cells Without Dielectric Substrate
Abstract
A transmitarray antenna featuring only metallic surfaces is designed at 10 GHz. The element consists of four identical metallic layers of double square ring slots divided by air gaps of quarter wavelength, without using any dielectric substrate. By adjusting the outer square ring slot width, the unit cell can offer a transmission phase ranging 405°and a transmission magnitude greater than −1.2 dB. A transmitarray employing the proposed elements is simulated. The numerical results show that the peak gain of the designed transmitarray is 25.4 dBi, corresponding to an aperture efficiency of 45.4%.
