Modeling and Analysis of Novel Tandem Solar Cells

Abstract

Multi-junction solar cells are considered to be more efficient approach for achieving high conversion efficiency for solar energy harvesting devices. In this paper, we proposed monolithic tandem solar cell made of different absorbing materials contains high, middle and low bandgap i.e. perovskite/perovskite/c-Si/c-Si layers, separated by a recombination layers and stop the recombination at the back surface a heavily doped layer is used. The proposed model is numerically examined and improved for numerous parameters such as bandgap, thickness, dopant concentration, and operating temperature. Moreover, the proposed structure is compared with single, double and triple junction solar cell structures, where it has been possessed a best performance than rest of the structures i.e. η =42.51 %, FF=90.49 %, current = 34.466 mA/cm2, and voltage = 1.362 V.
