Microstrip Matrix Butler Area which is Reduced by the use of Compact Directional Couplers

 

Abstract


The paper developed and investigated a microstrip matrix Butler area which is reduced by the use of compact directional couplers. The proposed miniature matrix operates in the frequency band 76 MHz. The intersection of two microstrip lines is implemented as a crossover. Matrix modeling is implemented in the NI-AWR Design Environment program. The manufactured model showed a high similarity with the simulation results. The area of the compact matrix is 3.6 times smaller than the area of the standard design, but there was a narrowing of the frequency band by 2.4%.
