Is it time to deliver additional chemotherapy upfront in our rectal cancer patients? A shifting paradigm
Abstract
Resource limitations and unsustainability are common themes in most modern public hospital systems. It is imperative that front-line clinicians take control of this issue and address the public need by employing functional team-based approaches and practical solutions to improve efficiency, reduce waste and ultimately improve quality of service delivery. In our example, executive and administrative input was limited to assistance with execution rather than solution design and implementation, and the success of this model supports the view that clinicians are best placed to understand the potential benefits, trade-offs and opportunity costs involved in such practice change.
