Renal metastasis from papillary carcinoma thyroid: A diagnostic dilemma.
Abstract
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common thyroid malignancy accounting for 80% of thyroid cancers1 . Metastasis of PTC commonly occurs in the cervical lymph nodes. Distant metastasis of PTC in the kidney is rare and may pose a diagnostic challenge. To the best of our knowledge, the fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of metastatic PTC in the kidney has not been described. Herein, we are describing one such rare case of FNAC of metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma in the right kidney in an elderly male.
