Sorption of Pyridine-3-carboxylic Acid by Fe-Containing Sulfonic Acid Cation Exchanger KU-2
Abstract
A study is performed of the equilibrium distribution of pyridine-3-carboxylic acid and iron(III) between an aqueous solution and sulfonic acid cation exchanger KU-2. The concentrations of individual components in solution are calculated using the HySS 2009 program. In the polymer phase, they are determined from the material balance of sorption. Pyridine-3-carboxylic acid anions (L–) are shown to be part of complex cations [FeL]2+ and [H2L]+. The equilibrium constants are determined for ion exchange and ligand sorption with the participation of pyridine-3-carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid cation exchanger KU-2, protons, and cations of iron(III).
