Brittle Fracture Resistance Characteristics of Weather-Resistant 14KhGNDTs Steel
Abstract
Abstract The influence of the carbon, zirconium, and vanadium content on the brittle fracture resistance characteristics of 14KhGNDTs weather-resistant steel is studied. The correlation between the ductile crack extension energy and the volume fraction of pearlite is considered. The replacement of 0.003% Zr in the normalized steel by 0.005–0.006% V is shown to cause a significant increase in the impact toughness. The relation between ductile–brittle transition temperature T 50 (cold-shortness threshold) and the crack extension energy is studied.
